Twinned with Serge de Maine-et-Loire in France, Ferndown stands on a hill in a delightful part of Dorset near the West Hampshire border, with the New Forest not far away.

The town grew in stature in the mid 1850's when the horticultural businesses in the area grew rapidly, chiefly under the stewardship of the Stewart family from Dundee.

Today the town boasts a comprehensive shopping centre together with a popular community centre offering many adult education courses, and a premier leisure centre with two heated pools and sports facilities.

Ferndown itself stands in a most convenient location with easy road access to all major towns nearby. Bournemouth and Poole are both within easy driving distance to the south offering a multitude of water sports and beaches. The International Airport at Hurn is close at hand and the A31 leads directly to the M27 Motorway leading to the M3 to London.
